40 Great Nailart Ideas - Neon

Good evening! This week, our theme is neon, so I have a bright neon mani for you today! I started off with a white base for this ones, to make the colors brighter, and used a few colors from the China Glaze neon collection from last year.

I did an axtec pattern over top of stripes of neon using my striping polish from Orly called Jet Black, and my Sally Hansen nailart pen in Black. The colors I used for the background are China Glaze Glow With The Flow, DJ Blue My Mind, Red-y To Rave, and Violet-Vibes. I used Pure Ice SuperStar! underneath to make the colors pop.

Please make sure you visit the other people who posted their neon manis for this week's prompt! There are bound to be tons of ideas in there for some great summer nailart. :) Thanks for stopping by!

Lotus Stamping Nail Art with Orly Fowl Play

Hi everyone! Today, I have a quick stamping manicure for you featuring one of my new Bundle Monster plates and beloved Mundo de Unas again! I love the lotus flower designs on these plates so much. I decided to wear Orly Fowl Play earlier this week because it just seemed so "fall" to me. It is a deep vampy purple filled with flakies and shimmer. I love me some flakies!

After a day, I decided I needed to dress it up, so I tried my hand at some gradient stamping. I used Mundo de Unas Mexican Pink and Lilac. The plate is Bundle Monster BM-XL174.

Thank you so much for looking. I'll be back on Friday with this week's 40 Great Nail Art Ideas post!

Summery Pineapple Nail Art

Hey guys, here I am sliding in my challenge post for my stamping group at the last possible minute - as usual! Oh my goodness, I posted so much more than I usually do this week, and it has taken a lot out of me! The prompt for this half of the month was Yellow and Orange/Summer Treats/Decals. Oh my, that is specific, but I finally came up with something to fit the prompts.

I started off with a gradient using Julep Marjorie and Orly Sunset Peach, and then added a coat of Northern Lights topcoat for some extra sparkle.

After that, I created some decals using BM-713 with Konad Special Black, then colored in the pineapples with Zoya Pippa. I slapped those decals on top of my gradient, and then added topcoat.

Thank you so much for looking! I'll be back Monday with another mani and sometime next week, I'll share my August Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 3 - Gold

For this manicure, I basically pulled out every gold polish I own and did a mosaic style mani with them. It was fun to see how all the different golds look together, and I really like how this one turned out. It was one of those few times when my indecisiveness was a good thing. Take a look!

For this mani, I used Loreal Because You're Worth It, Avon Gleaming Gold, Julep Sienna & Vivien, Milani Gold Glitz, China Glaze I Herd That, Sephora by OPI Blasted Gold, L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Gold Glitter, Essie As Gold As It Gets, OPI Goldeneye, and two of my Migi Nail Art Pens which don't have names.

Thanks for looking, and be sure to check out what everyone else did!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 2 - Silver

For silver nails, I thought about metal, and then things that are made out of metal, and that led me to....ROBOTS! I love robots, and I wish that I had one. Specifically, I with that I had Rosie from the Jetsons to do all my housework and cooking, and be super-nice to me. Yep. That's what I want. When robot-maids become affordable, I will have one. Anyway, on to the nails.

The base for this mani is the only chrome silver polish I have, which is Julep Harley. I then drew in my robots with my Orly striper in Jet Black, and added the accents using China Glaze Manhunt & Adventure Red-y, NYC High Line Green, and Zoya Pippa. I wanted themto look kind of like doodles...but I'm not that happy with how they turned out. So there you have it. I will be back next time with a gold mani for you.

Thanks for looking, and make sure you check out what everyone else did!

10 Day/Week...OK MONTH! Challenge - Favorite Color Combination

So, I don't know if I could ever pick a favorite color combination, but I took a look at some things I had pinned on Pinterest for inspiration, and found this little gem I had nearly forgotten about. It is from Raggio di Luna Nails, and I really loved it when I first pinned it, and I still do. I decided to recreate it in some of my favorite colors, so...here it is!

I used Julep Nina as my base, then added Zoya Pippa, Essie Meet Me At Sunset and Julep Mandy for the accents. I added my stripes and dots using my favorite black striper from Orly called Jet Black. Quick little aside about this Orly striper - they add some oily substance to it that makes it AMAZING for nail art. If you don't have any Orly stripers, get one. You will see what I mean. It's awesome.

Here's a pic before I added the dots. Just like the original artist, I couldn't decide what I like better...but I'm leaning toward the version with the dots. :)

Thanks for looking...maybe I'll finish this challenge before ten months, huh? We'll see.

Nail-Aween Nail Art Challenge - Frankenstein

It's day six of the Nail-Aween Nail Art Challenge, and I have a Frankenstein-inspired mani for you today. I call it Franken-Mani! This was one really fun, and I don't want to remove it, but I have 4 more manis to get in before 10/31. :)

I started out with a different color on each finger, and then added additional colors/topcoats in sections. After that, I used my Orly striper in Jet Black to make the "stitches".  I used Sally Hansen Pronto Purple, Pure Ice Wild Thing, Orly Sunset Peach, L.A. Colors Current, Sinful Colors Last Chance, Zoya Arizona, Spoiled Jail Bait, and Nubar Black Polka Dot. :) I love love LOVE the way this mani turned out! Here are a few pics of base colors before I added my nail art, so you can see what they look like by themselves.

Left to Right: L.A. Colors Current, Orly Sunset Peach, Sally Hansen Pronto Purple, and Pure Ice Wild Thing.

Thanks for looking, and be sure to check out the other participants in this challenge!

Copy Cat Sat - Nailed It!

Today, I have for you a mani inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Katy from Nailed It! She comes up with the best ideas, so I decided to mimic this lovely manicure she did a while back. Of course, I had to put my own spin on it, so here it is.

China Glaze Desert Sun, Pure Ice Super Star!, China Glaze Prey Tell

Well, I wanted it to look autumnal, but I think it looks more 70's kitchen wallpaper. Oh well. I think I will take a stab at it again sometime. I need to make the white stripe narrower, but the stamp I used was a bad choice - too wide. Maybe I will try this again with a winter theme later this year. We shall see. Here is China Glaze Desert Sun by itself.

Thanks for looking, I'll have a new mani for you on Wednesday. :)

Summer Challenge Day 4 - Palm Trees

Day 4 (July 7th) of the Summer Challenge is Palm Trees. I'm really struggling to keep up with this challenge, and being a perfectionist, I spent way too long working on these. I'm so proud of my work, though, it was totally worth it. Take a look!
I started with a base of NYC Pink Promenade Creme. I love this polish, and wear it so much the bottle is less than half full now. :) After that, I did a gradient with this color, Wet n Wild Through The Grapevine and Wet n Wild On a Trip. This is definitely the best gradient I have ever done, so I was quite happy. After that, I painted my palm trees with Orly Jet Black, which is a striper, and then I just added topcoat. Here are a few pics to show the process.
Here is NYC Pink Promenade Creme by itself
This is what it looked like after I finished my gradient

Copy Cat Sat - Nailed It.

My mani today was inspired by one of my favorite blogs, Nailed It. This girl has such a steady hand, it's unreal. Mine shakes like crazy, but I am really working on getting more under control, so I chose this one specifically to help me master this. You can find her original post here. I don't have a yellow neon, but I do have orange and pink! So, I decided to do this with another color...and since I couldn't decide what color, I used them both! Two accent nails are better than one. Haven't you heard?! Here it is!
Spoiled Jail Bait, Spoiled Tip Your Waitress, ORLY Jet Black, NYC Tribeca Silver

I am pretty happy with how this turned out. I still struggle to get the striper brush under control, but practice makes perfect! Let me know what you think. I'll have another post for you soon!

Stamping with Zoya Myrta and Wednesday with Revlon First Class

So, I know it has been a looong time, but I have been completely slammed with finals all week, and working some overtime at work. Anyway, this mani took a bit of time to do, so I finally finished it last night. I've been dying to use these new Zoya polishes that I got a while back, and when I found this Revlon polish at Target, it was a match made in heaven. I still love the way this mani turned out, but I am a bit bummed out that Wednesday didn't show up as well as I thought it would. It seemed so opaque, I thought for sure it would look brighter. Anyway, here is a pic of all the bottles I used - don't these colors look awesome together?!
Zoya Myrta, Revlon First Class, ORLY Sunset Peach, Zoya Wednesday

Now, here is my mani. I had some more adventures fun time with my stamping set, and am excited to be getting better at it, but already want more plates. Eek! Well I guess I know what's going on my Christmas list - yes I'm already looking forward to Christmas haha! Check it out!

All in all, I like the way it turned out, although I think  it would have been better/brighter if I would have used Myrta over Wednesday...maybe I will try that some other time. :) Thanks for looking!

Dotted Mani

So, I decided to enter a contest (why, not?) and there were some requirements for the nail art. I decided to go with dots because I hadn't tried it before. I don't have a dotting tool, but I saw an idea from The Beauty Department to make my own. I ended up using a pin with a larger round ball and it worked very well. Here is the original mani. After I got this done, I couldn't resist adding a little bit more.

Loreal Shock Proof White, NYC Penn Station, NYC Greenwich Village, Wet 'n Wild Blazed, and Orly Sunset Peach
After that, I make a dotting tool using a pin with s small ball and added little white dots to my ring finger nail.

So, my first dotting experience went pretty well. I tried to pick colors that reminded me of a sunset I saw in Massachusetts last summer. It was already almost dark out, but the sun setting just over the water created this awesome purple to orange effect. It was gorgeous!

Abstract Spring Colors

So, I actually saw this first from Little Nails, but it looks like it was originally done by Nailside. Anyway, I loved the idea and had to put my own spin on it, so I pulled out all of my brightest springy colors and went for it. I cut up my own pieces of tape, which was a bit difficult - it was very hard to get them nice and straight, so some of my lines are a bit less perfect than I would have liked, but I still love how these turned out.

This blue is actually a pearly white I mixed with a dark blue years(ok a whole decade) ago, NYC Uptown, Orly Sunset Peach, Wet n Wild Blazed, and Solar FX Wanna Play?
These polishes are all so old, I'm not sure if they still exist. The Orly was a gift back when I was in high school...a LONG time ago, and so was the Solar FX. With some of my polishes, I add ethyl acetate if they start to dry out, but I don't think I did that with any of these ones, so I am thoroughly impressed! I found some more tutorials from other sites, so I'll be trying out some more ideas soon!
