40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Glitter Topper or Flakie

Hi everyone. I have another Christmas-y mani for you today! Today we are all showing off different ways that you can wear a glitter topper or a flakie (those polishes that you cannot wear alone). I did some simple striping using vinyls.

The base color for my nails is Nicole by OPI Challenge Red-y. I then used the striped outline from my You Polish decals to make these wide striped and the green glitter topper is L.A. Girl Glitter Addict nailpolish in Purge.

Here is what Challenge Red-y looks like on it's own. It's a nice red cream, and went on in two smooth coats. It's a great Christmas Red!

Make sure you check out what everyone else did for this week's challenge! It's going to be sparkly - yay!

Dr. Who Galaxy Nails

A while back, I ordered some nail vinyls from Loki's Nail Vinyls, and when Tara saw that I had ordered Tardis decals, she threw in a small strip of gold daleks. Eeeep! So, this mani has been on my mind for a while, and I finally had the chance to execute it. Yay!

My idea was to do a galaxy manicure and have the Tardis "chasing" a couple of daleks. So, I went to work creating my galaxy nails. The galaxies had to be purple-based of course - duh!! :P I used OPI Lincoln Park in the Dark and then sponged on my "galaxies" using Julep Margaret, Butter London Petrol, Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac, Sinful Colors Cinderella, and Pure Ice SuperStar!. I added one coat of Maybelline Precious for stars. Here is how they turned out. Pretty sweet, right? I totally love them. I loved them so much, I was terrified I would somehow manage to screw up my vinyls and ruin the mani, so I photographed them first. haha

Luckily, the application of my vinyls was just fine. Look at how cute the little daleks are! Ahhhh! I painted over top of the vinyls to add some extra detail using my smallest brush, along with my black nail art pen from Sally Hansen.

Oh, here is what OPI Lincoln Park in the Dark looks like on it's own. It is super rich and opaque. It only needed one coat.

Thank you so much for coming by today! You guys, I wish I was rich so I could buy all of the things I want. Tara came out with another cool set of vinyls that I really want. And the whole ramen plan isn't going to work. It turns out you can't have ramen when you are trying to follow the South Beach diet. :P Have a great day everyone!

Funky French with Flowers

Hello! I have been playing with my collection of Loki's Nail Vinyls again, and did a cute floral, Spring-inspired mani using her vinyls to create a nice crisp funky french. I'm not sure where my inspiration came for this one. I was just sketching out ideas and then all of the sudden this idea was born. These three colors go so well together, too!

I started of with three coats of NYC Hamptons Peach, then used Loki's Nail Vinyls to mask the tip of each nail and painted over top of it using Julep Donna. Here is what it looked like at that point. Pardon the poor lighting, I wasn't in the mood to pull out my light box for this part. I really need to buy another Ott light. :) Oh and also, the dryness from the acetone - gross. Whatever though, you guys get the idea!

After I did that, I used a dotting tool to create the flowers using Color Club London Calling, then added a dot of Julep Donna in the center of each one. I really love this manicure. It came out so much better than I had even hoped. I have been sketching out my ideas on paper lately, and boy is it helping lol.

Here is NYC Hamptons Peach all by itself. This polish was a bit on the thin side, but it built up to opacity in 3 coats.

Thank you for stopping by to look today! I will be back in a couple days with a new mani for the 52 Week Pick n Mix. Have a great day!

52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge - Red and Gold Chevrons

Good evening! I'm getting my red and gold chevrons in at the last possible second over here...as usual. :) I totally love how Christmas-y these look. I used some more of the vinyls I received from Loki's Nail Vinyls for this, and man am I in love with these. They make everything so easy.

So, I started off with two coats of Estee Lauder Le Smoking, which is an awesome bright red cream. I added my chevrons using China Glaze I Herd That. I love how sparkly this is.

Here is what Le Smoking looks like by itself. It is a perfect classic red. My dear friend Anna gave this to me last year for Christmas and I love it. ;)

Thank you so much for looking - make sure you check out what everyone else did for this challenge.

Loki's Nail Vinyls Review

Hi everyone! I am so so so excited to finally have gotten my hands on some nail vinyls. I have seen them all over the place and wanted to try some out so bad. I was contacted by Tara from Loki's Nail Vinyls to try out her new vinyls, and all of my vinyls dreams have come true! Haha - I love these!

I received a variety of vinyls and have a couple different examples using them both as stencils and as stickers. They went on sale 12/1 in her online shop, and are available for you to buy now if you want to get your hands on some of these vinyls, too.

So first up, I have to show you my new favorite things: nail aprons. Oh my god. These are going to change my life. I usually use tape to mask around my nails if I'm going to be doing some messy sponging, but these are so much neater. My nails are on the smaller side, so I used the small ones, but she sent larger ones too, which would fit my thumb nails.

No more having to clean up the little triangles in the corners from using straight tape!!! Ahhhhh! I also received some chevron, lightning bolt, and fancy french tip stencils, which are going to totally change my tape mani game, people. Just watch this:

Yay! Now these came to me "unweeded", so it is hard to see in the first picture I took (it just looks like a purple sheet), but you can see here where I weeded it so that I could use them. You just use fine tip tweezers to peel these up, and the tweezers are great for placing the vinyls on your nails, too.

Here is the mani I made with these. I just love them and can't wait to bust out those chevons - I will post a mani tomorrow with some of those for this week's 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge.

Now, I also wanted to show off what these vinyls would do if you use them as stickers. I am recycling a mani from earlier this week here, so that you can see. ;) Remember my Christmas trees? Well I thought they needed a little something for a topper, so I went with bows. They are pink, but it's dark, so close enough to red in my book (well maybe not, but you need a little pink in your Christmas!).

Thank you so much as always for stopping by to read my blog and look at my nails. Also, a great big thank you to Tara - you have been great to work with. Thank you for being understanding about my being sick. :)
