40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Music

Good afternoon! I am a little behind with this post because I was struggling for inspiration. I ended up just going through my nail polish rack of untried colors, trying to find my inspiration there, when I came across this beauty and was immediately inspired.

This is Bear Pawlish Poor Unfortunate Souls. Now you all know I love The Little Mermaid. As soon as I picked up this bottle and saw the title, I started singing the song to myself and realized it was perfect. I decided to paint some poor unfortunate souls on my nails! I used only 4 additional colors for this: Pure Ice Black Rage and Superstar!, Zoya Wednesday, and Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret that only my hubby and a few of my closest friends know: I have a Disney playlist on Spotify and I blast that thing while I'm sitting in my nail nook painting my nails and sing along loudly. I even listen to it (with headphones) while I am working. It always cheers me up. :P

So there you have it, my music inspired nails. Make sure you check out what everyone else did for this prompt!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Swatches and Review

 *PR Samples
Good morning! I have three lovely polishes from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer for your viewing pleasure today.

These three polishes came to me from Julie at Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer a few weeks ago, and are all still available on her site if you are interested in any of them. The first one I swatched is called Chasing the Skyline and has a formula very similar to Siren's Lament. It is full of flakies and went on in two smooth coats. You could get away with one coat on this one if you paint it thick.

Next, I painted the glitter topper over Chasing The Skyline. This lovely mix is called Blue Ridge Silhouette, and comes from one of her Destination Polish Collaboration duos, North Georgia Sunset. The other polish in this duo is a lovely blue holo from Alter Ego. I totally love this mix of different size, shapes, and colors of glitters. It is meant to have all of the colors of a sunset, so it has pink, coral, orange, red, purple, and blue glitters in all different shapes and sizes. I LOVE it. I did two coats here, and no topcoat. The formula was fine. The glitter came out very evenly, and there were no dragging issues.

And last, we have Irrlicht. This is a bright blue scatter holo and comes from another one of her collaborations called Properties of Light. This one features another pretty polish from Digital Nails, so go check it out! I used two coats for this one as well. The first image is no topcoat. It dries to a satiny finish. The second picture is with topcoat and in full sun. It is even more sparkly in person, but my camera was freaking out at the brightness haha.

Thank you so much Julie for sending me these polishes to review. And thank you to my lovely readers for stopping by today to check them out. Have a great day!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Mermaid Tails and Drunken Sails Swatches and Review

 *PR Sample
Good morning! I have a new polish to show off from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer which she created recently for the Hella Holo Customs group. It's a private facebook group, but if you would like to join so that you can get your hands on this beauty, just follow the instructions at the end of this post! Mermaid Tails and Drunken sails is a gorgeous shimmer-filled linear holo with shifting iridecent glitters and red to gold shifting sparks. It seriously looks exactly like what Ariel's tail would look like in real life. Squuueeee! Now you all know I have a thing for mermaids and particular The Little Mermaid. Love that movie so so so much, so this polish with hold a special place in my heart for that simple fact alone!

This is only available for preorder through 7pm today, so hurry hurry hurry if you want to get it!

I did two coats here, with no topcoat. It dried to a satiny finish, and is pretty thick. Julie created this polish so that it could be a one to two coater, so be mindful that you will need to wait for the first coat to fully dry before you go for that second coat to prevent dragging!

I took so many pictures of this because it seriously looks different from every angle! Check out these bottle shots to see what I mean. Ooooooohhhh ahhhhhhhh! Oh I just love all the sparkle!

There is also a pink (Holomelon) and purple (Atalanta) with the same finish in the collection that you can find swatched all over the internet. They are gorgeous. Get them while you can ladies!

We got some sun after I took most of my photos, so I have a few phone pics for you of this one, too, so you can see the lovely linear holo a bit better!

I will be back in a couple days with another mani for you, and hopefully some nail art!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Pale Blue Base

Good morning lovelies and happy Friday! Woooo! I got so many new polishes for Christmas, my head is spinning over here trying to wear them all as fast as possible. For this mani, I decided that I would wear a new Cirque (and my first Cirque!) that was gifted to me by Amy from The Fancy Side for winning a nail art contest around Halloween (so not Christmas, but I HAD to wear it with all my other new holos from Christmas!). It is a light blue holographic polish and it is BEAUTIFUL. I did some simple stamping using swirling patters from my new CICI&SISI plates (yay Christmas!). These swirly images are from plates 02 & 05.

Oh I wish that it wasn't so dreary here. I tried flash, no flash, 5 different types of light, a flashlight, and nothing seemed to help my camera capture the holo goodness. Wahhhhhh! Anyway, the Cirque polish is called Cabana Capri, and I stamped over top of it using Bear Pawlish Poor Unfortunate Souls and Cupcake Polish Berry Good Looking. This mani looked so much more amazing in real life. I can't even express how much sparkle and rainbow was happening.

Here is what Cabana Capri looked like on it's own. The holo is so much better than my camera shows. :( I only did two coats here, which is really good for a holo in my opinion.

I've decided that all these holos are going to have to wait until the sun decides to show itself again. And then I shall re-swatch Cirque, and swatch all of the other ones I got (there are SOOO many haha!) and share them with you properly. Thank you so much for checking out my mani for this week. Make sure you look at all the other lovely pale blue manis!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - New Year

Hello everyone. When I think of a New Year's mani, I pretty much think of anything with glitter haha. So, I busted out some of my new polishes (yay for Christmas!), and played around until I got this.

To be honest, I just had the idea in my head and went for it, so it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. BUT, there is glitter (lots) and holo, so I am happy. :) I used Bear Pawlish Curiosity for my base. Oh my goodness I am so in love with this polish. It has everything I love - purple, glitter, holo...um well that's it really. :P And that is all it needs! It has so much more depth in person, but my camera just couldn't handle it. It always struggles with purples. The striping is done using Julep Harley mixed with Bear Pawlish The Gift 2015. I wanted my silver to be holo, but don't actually own a silver holo. You can bet that went on my wishlist!!! The circular glitter "balls" are OPI's I Snow You Love Me. This is such a weird polish to me...but it has it's uses. ;)

Here is what Curiosity looks like on it's own. I feel like my photograph doesn't do it justice. It looks more blue in some lights and almost red in other lights because of the shifty glitters packed inside. My camera went with more blue haha. It's a purple jelly jam-packed with so many purple, fuchsia, and holo glitters. It is crazy sparkly - perfect for New Year's Eve!

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog today! Make sure you take a look at what everyone else did for this prompt!

Julep September 2015 It Girl Box = Purple Heaven

Ok, so you all know I am a sucker for purple. So of course, when there were 3 purple polishes in the September box, I just had to say yes and get it. XD

The box came with 3 polishes and a special add-on. The add-on is called Julep and is their signature color (the color of their marketing materials, such as their boxes, signage, etc.)

Let's take a look! First, we have Delores. This is a purple-leaning-blue holographic polish. I didn't have any sun for the swatches, but it is a scatter holo. It went on in two smooth coats and dried to a satiny finish. The second pic shows what it looked like with topcoat to add some shine.

Next, we have Zoey. This is a cool grey cream polish. The formula was nice and went on it two coats. I added one coat of Out The Door topcoat here.

Then, we have Aubrey. This is a purple frost, which is almost metallic. The formula was pretty good, but its not my favorite finish as I really don't like seeing visible brush strokes. This one will be fun to play with in manis with stamping and sponging, where streakiness doesn't matter. I did two coats here as well with one coat of Out The Door topcoat.

Last, is the add-on, Julep. This is a rich orchid shade of cream polish. The formula was really nice on this one, and it painted on in two smooth coats. I don't think I have a similar purple shade so I'm super happy to add this one to my collection. :)

Thank you so much for looking! I have my very last mani of the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge for you this week, so stay tuned. :)

July Julep It Girl Box - With Extras

Well, I had ditched Julep for a while, but this month, I saw I had enough Jules to get the box plus a couple add-ons, and I liked the colors, so I went for it! Do you guys like how I have this ridiculous quantity of Jules all the time lately? haha

Anyway, I was pretty into the colors this month, and then saw the add-on options and said "yep I need some of those". So, I got myself 6 polishes this month as a result (if you ordered 2 add-ons, you got Ilsa as a free bonus). I also used an add-on to get their cuticle cream. You can never have enough cuticle cream. I am literally more than halfway through the bottle of cuticle oil I got from Rainbow Honey two months ago...and I've been using it interchangeably with my Burt's Bees!

The first color I have to show you is Juliana. This is a coral metallic, almost frost-like polish. It was thin, and took 3 coats to become opaque. Not my favorite polish ever, but it's unique in my collection, so I like that. The formula itself was good. It was not streaky and went on smooth.

Next, I have Alyssa. This is a pastel teal cream. This one had a really nice formula and was very opaque. I did two coats, but I think I could have gotten away with just one thick coat. I like it - it's minty. It's not unique, though, so it's not the most thrilling color ever, to me haha.

Next up is Mara. This polish is one of the stardust finish polishes. It is a sparkly textured polish, that I am a bit of a sucker for, to tell the truth. This one was a bit lackluster though. The sparkle wasn't sparkly enough for me, but I will say that the formula was nice on this one. This is two smooth coats.

Next, is Ilsa. This one is insanely opaque. It went on in just one coat. It is a super dark blurple cream. I really like it, although I would not wear it until fall/winter, unless of course it works in some nailart. The formula was perfection.

Next, we have Magdalene. This is a pretty shimmery, metallic blue. It's very ocean-esque. This one had a great formula, too. It was very smooth. I did two coats here.

Last, we have Queen Anne. This is probably my favorite of the bunch. It went on in two smooth coats despite the mega-quantity of glitters, and dried to a satiny finish.

I added topcoat here to show what it looked like shiny. The bottom picture is outside in the sun to show off the holo sparkles a bit better.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I got the August box because the colors were awesome. Hopefully it was a good decision. I'm out of Jules now, so I am going to be more picky about the boxes each month. They reeled me in with the August box with another stardust finish polish. I'm such a sucker! Ha! Have a great evening!
