52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge - Negative Space + 3 Pastels

Ok, so here I am posting my mani at the last minute again haha. I was going to do a cute manicure with little cupcakes for my birthday, but I had too many challenges happening, so I am skipping that little plan. :P Today, I have for you instead, my negative space mani including 3 pastels to complete both prompts for the week. Some of you may have seen on instagram that I nabbed the entire Wet n Wild Silver Lake collection of polishes. I used three of them here so I could show them off right away.

This is Wet n Wild Warm Filter, Reject The Mainstream, and Tree Hugger. I used striping tape to create the negative spaces, and ended up having to do this twice on each nail because the polishes needed two coats.

I am not a fan of the negative space just because I am paranoid that my nails are stained. They actually really aren't stained too badly at the moment, so this doesn't look too bad. I actually got a lot of compliments on these. I think people were just interested because it's different and not something you see every day.

Thanks so much for looking. Make sure you check out what everyone else did for this week's prompts!

52 Week Pick n Mix - Fishbraid + Non-Glitter Topper

You all know I am too lazy (busy???) to do more than one mani for the 52 Week Pick n Mix lately, so I combined the prompts yet again. I have been so slammed with work lately, I have had very little time to think about my blog. Hopefully I can figure out how to get that under control. Anyway, I decided I wanted to use a combination of old and new non-glitter toppers of the iridecent variety over top of solid black in my mani this week.

I accomplished this look by painting my nails with 2 coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme, and then used striping tape to mask out my fishbraid design. I painted in each section with the three colors I picked, alternating them as I went.

Here are what the three polishes look like in the bottles. It's crazy how much some of them change once painted over black. Butter London Petrol is the blue, Pro Strong Enchanted is the pink, and green is Loreal The Temptress' Power (I know, right!?). That last one is the most shocking transformation out of them all.

I hope you like my mani this week! Make sure you check out what everyone else did for this challenge. :)

Golden Oldie Thursday - Stripes!

For this mani, I pulled out a few more ancient polishes that I have plus one that I have had for nearly a year and never used. I have three of these polishes since middle/high school. We're talking 15+ years old. I keep them because they haven't dried out and I actually really love the blue glitter in them. The light blue is from a company called Natural Glow and the color is Cornflower Pearl. The blue glitter is from Victoria's Secret. It came in a set I received for Christmas with two other awesome glitters, but unfortunately the other two have not made it this long. The name of the color is Sleigh Bells. The medium blue shimmer is from Cover Girl and is called Starry Blue. The fourth color I used is from The New Black. It is a navy cream from the Runway Collection.

I painted Cornflower Pearl on my nails first, and then carefully used a striping brush to do horizontal stripes with Sleigh Bells, Starry Blue, and the navy from The New Black.

Here is Cornflower Pearl by itself. This is three coats; it is a very thin polish. I think I need to use it again in the spring!

I hope you like my mani today! Be sure to check out what everyone else has done!

Christmas Winter Challenge Day 6 - Christmas Food

I'm being boring with this one and doing something that lots of people have done before - candy canes. They just look so cute, I had to give it a try myself. I really like the way they turned out, too. I'm making this post short and sweet because I'm really short on time. Take a look.

Thanks for looking, and be sure to check out what everyone else did!

Guest Post With Laura From LittleLauraLoves!

Happy Monday! Well, not really, but we have to pretend for sanity's sake. I did a guest post swap for today with Laura from LittleLauraLoves so you can find my post on her blog. We agreed to both do tape manis for this post, so you can find her's below. I think it turned pretty good, and she's a girl after my own heart with her choice to do a gradient, too! You all know how much I love those! Check it out:

June Tri Polish Challenge = Red + Pink + Purple - Day 3

Hey guys! So, it's day 3 of the Tri Polish Challenge for June, and I have a fun one for you. I have to say, having only three colors to work with over the past week and a half has really forced me to get creative. I like it! Now, if only I didn't have finals this week. Ugh. So, you know this will be short and sweet so that I can go get my study on. you won't hear from me again until Thursday night, which will be the last Tri Polish post straight after my four-hour Econ final. I will be so grateful to be painting my nails that night! Well, enough chit-chat. Here are the three colors I used for this mani.

Sick of this pic yet???? Ok so here are my pretty nails.

I love how these turned out. I was completely winging it, too. I didn't really have a plan, but it all worked out in the end. I used essie playdate for my base, then randomly placed striping tape, then sponged over that with Nicole by OPI Sealed With A Kris and Misa Party In The Masquerade. So there you have it. I hope you all have a great week!

30 Day Flower Challenge Day 7: Cordyline

For this mani, I decided to use the foliage as my inspiration. I found a variety of the cordyline that is dark green with pink edges that I decided to mimic on my nails. Here is a photograph of the variety I used as my inspiration.

I painted my stripes using China Glaze Purr-fect Plum, Sephora by OPI Berry Tale Romance, and L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Intense Pink & Forest Green.

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 20 - Texture

I saw this awesome quilted mani a while back and decided to try to recreate that. I am pretty sure it was done by The PolishAholic, and I saw it here. I decided to use a polish I picked up at Drug Mart on clearance months ago. It felt too bright for winter, so I waited to break it out for you guys until now. :)

This is Loreal Boozy Bruch. I used the same method that The PolishSholic used by adding white to the color for my base coat, then used striping tape to make a quilting pattern, and painted over that with Boozy Bruch. I painted it on nice and thick, so it actually has a quilted feel.

It is a very bright orange that my camera unfortunately washed out a bit. It's pretty - just enough pink in it so it looks good with my skintone. I like it. :)

Well, thanks for looking, check out what the others did for their texture manis - I'm sure there will be lots of those new textured polishes in it. I'm excited to see them!

10 Day/Week...OK MONTH! Challenge - Favorite Celebrity Manicure

So, I don't really follow celebrities...at all. I don't care about their stupid lives, and I don't think it should be anyone's business anyway. Leave them alone people. They are regular human beings, not gods and goddesses. They poop too. Ok, enough of that. My point is, I wouldn't know a celebrity manicure if it was on a hand that slapped me in the face. That meant I had to search the internet for 'celebrity manicures' and that was really, really boring. But, I finally wound up finding one that I had actually pinned on pinterest months ago without realizing that it belonged to a celebrity. And, happily, its a celebrity that I have actually heard of - Zooey Deschanel. Here is my version of her cute mani.

I like how this turned out. I chose slightly different colors, only because I wanted to use some polishes that I haven't gotten to use yet. The base is China Glaze Exotic Encounters. I won this in a giveaway along with the entire Safari Collection, and was so excited to start using these colors. Thanks again Kayla Shevonne!!! The stripes are done in Zoya Wednesday, Pure Ice Wild Thing, and China Glaze I'm Not Lion (also from my winnings - yay!!!). Here's China Glaze Exotic Encounters all by itself. This is serioulsly one of my new favorite colors. It is GORGEOUS!

Thanks for looking. The next requirement of this challenge is Favorite Freehand Nail Art Design, so I will begin pondering that one, and try to have it done for next week.

Happy 4th of July!

I did this mani for a contest with My Lacquer Family and I have to say, I went completely nuts with the new Mash plates I got a while back. They had several different star designs, so for the first time ever, I actually used multiple stamps on each nail. These plates are awesome. I got them for only $12 during a promotion they had with that gift card I got from work a while back. Every stamp I used transferred very nicely with the exception of the stars you can see on upper left corner of my pinky. This may have been user error. I got lazy and didn't clean the plate after I had stamped the same design onto my middle finger.
Star Spangled Nails
Here is how they looked before I added stamping/striping. I did a basic color block manicure using tape to make the straight lines.
NYC Big Apple Red Creme, Revlon First Class, Victoria's Secret Sleighbells, and NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost
After that, I let the color blocking dry (for a whole day - I'm a busy girl), and then I added my stamping the following evening.
This was done with mash plates 29, 49, and 26 from their newest set
After the stamping dried, I added my stripes using a small paintbrush. This would have been easier with striping tape, and would have come out looking way more perfect, but I don't have any, so I just did it freehand. I'm actually quite impressed with how straight I got those lines, considering I have tremors. I've actually noticed that my tremors haven't really been much of an issue lately and am wondering if my nail art is working like therapy to help reduce the shaking. I'm not really sure, but I find it very interesting, and am very happy I haven't been shaking so much lately.
Here it is after I added my stripes. The white I used was Konad Special White.
P.S. see how my Seche Vite sabotaged my thumb, there? I hate when that happens!
I am very happy with how these turned out. I had a lot of fun doing them, and hope you enjoy them too! Thanks for looking, and have a happy July 4th!

Copy Cat Sat - Nailed It.

My mani today was inspired by one of my favorite blogs, Nailed It. This girl has such a steady hand, it's unreal. Mine shakes like crazy, but I am really working on getting more under control, so I chose this one specifically to help me master this. You can find her original post here. I don't have a yellow neon, but I do have orange and pink! So, I decided to do this with another color...and since I couldn't decide what color, I used them both! Two accent nails are better than one. Haven't you heard?! Here it is!
Spoiled Jail Bait, Spoiled Tip Your Waitress, ORLY Jet Black, NYC Tribeca Silver

I am pretty happy with how this turned out. I still struggle to get the striper brush under control, but practice makes perfect! Let me know what you think. I'll have another post for you soon!
