Tri Polish Tuesday - Lilac, Teal, & Grey + 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge

Alright, so this is the last manicure you will ever see again featuring these colors. I'll tell you what, 5 Tuesdays in a month is way too many! BUT, I will say that this mani turned out pretty good, too. I am actually completing both my requirement for Tri Polish Tuesday and the very first prompt for the newest challenge I joined with The Crumpet's Nail Tarts: The 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge. Fifty. Two. Weeks. The prompt is a two-color gradient and teal. So, I opted to do it all in one. I'll explain what this challenge is at the end of the post. Anyway, I had asked for ideas for this one in my last post, and my mom suggested leopard or tiger. So, this is what I came up with.

After I created my gradient, I stamped over it using 2 plates: Konad m57 and Mash-41. Here is what my two-color gradient looked like before I added the stamping.

So there you have it, the last Tri Polish post for this month. I don't think I'm going to participate in it for October, because I want to spend more time on the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge, and maybe bring some of the ideas I've been hoarding into reality. Here is some info about the challenge, so you can understand what on earth I'm doing over the next year.

THE RULES:
Each week, there are 2 prompts.  It is our choice whether to do 1, both, or combine them. They have been set up as an extension of our Golden Oldie Thursdays, so the idea is to use an old polish, or an untried. Also, once a month, one of the color prompts will coincide with a Tri Polish Tuesday, in case I decide I want to do that again. For now, I just want to stick with one challenge and get all of my ideas out before I join another. Here is an example of what the challenge is set up like:

For this week (starting September 29th), the prompts are a 2 colour gradient and teal.
My options were:
1 - post a mani of any 2 colours in a gradient and later in the week post an oldie / untried teal
2 - only do one of the prompts
3 - post a mani of a 2 colour gradient where one of the colours is a teal (combining the prompts)

So there you have it. I've gotten myself into a fun one this time! If you are interested in joining us in the 52 Week Challenge, head over to Crumpet' Nail Tarts to join in.

Thanks so much for looking, and be sure to check out what the others did for this last day of September's Tri Polish Tuesdays!

And look here to see what everyone did for the first day of the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge.

September Julep It Girl Box

This month's box came with a pretty combo of dark teal-blue, pale pink, and a dark amber-colored gold. I knew these would make great nail art, so I came up with another pretty botanical mani. I took my inspiration from this pattern I found online by Leah Reena Goren. :P

The first polish I swatched from this set is Mahima, a gold, metallic polish. I used two coats here to get full coverage. As you know, I'm not a huge fan of metallics because of the streaks, but it wasn't too bad. The only issue I had was that the polish was dragging when I went back for a second coat, so I had to wait a good 15 minutes between coats. It is a pretty gold. I like how dark it is - perfect for fall.

Next is Fifi. She is a very pale, baby pink cream. This polish is really thin and it took three coats for opacity.

Last, we have Ryan. Ryan is a lovely, dark teal-blue cream which dries matte. It took two thin coats to become opaque.

Thank you so much as always for looking at my post today. As a reminder, I have a giveaway happening right now, so get your entries in while you can!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Brown

Good morning! I always have a hard time with brown, but after giving it a go with some stamping, I am actually really pleased with these nails. I used China Glaze Call of the Wild for my base. It's a nice, rich, chocolatey-brown cream. I decided to add some stamping using MoYou London's Suki 06 plate and Loreal's Because You're Worth It, which is a lovely gold.

Here is what China Glaze Call of the Wild looks like on it's own. Like all the China Glaze polishes I own, it painted on smoothly, with no issues. This is two coats.

Thank you so much for looking. This is the end of the Golden Oldie Thursdays, but we are starting up something new and fabulous next week. Stay tuned! And make sure you check out what the other girls did, too!

Tri Polish Tuesday - Lilac, Teal, & Grey/Silver

Hi everyone! I am back for another mani featuring these same three colors you've been seeing for the past three weeks. Are you sick of them yet? I hope not, because there is still one more Tuesday left in September! For today's mani, I decided to use Estee Lauder Caviar for my base again because I wanted a nice, dreary background. It's been raining here a lot lately and fall is approaching quickly, so I thought I'd create a cute umbrella pattern on my nails. I used essie Play Date for the umbrella shapes and added my stripes and dots using Maybelline Color Show Tenacious Teal.

Thank you so much for reading. I'll have a new mani for you on Golden Oldie Thursday. :)

Golden Oldie Thursday - Burnt Orange/Copper

Hi all! I got a little short on time, so I had to settle for a simple stamped manicure for today's post. I have very little in the way of burnt orange/copper polish, but this one will have to suffice. It is a polish that was released exclusively by Target two years ago: a no-name orange from COS BAR. I rarely wear orange on it's own because it's just not a good color for me, so you know I had to add some stamping here. And since fall is apparently here (the horror!), I did a nice fall leaf manicure.

I stamped using an image from MoYou London's Suki Plate 07 with Avon Gleaming Gold. After that, I stamped leaf images over top of it using Clinique Garnet Ice and Bundle Monster plate BM04 and Red Angel plates RA-118 and RA-121.

Here is COS BAR's orange on it's own. This polish is on the thin side, so I did three thin coats to build this up to full opacity.

Thank you so much for looking! Make sure you look at what everyone else shared for their orange/copper polish!

Tri Polish Tuesday - Lilac, Teal, & Grey/Silver

I'm so stoked on this manicure, you guys! It came out better than I envisioned, which is always a plus. I love when stamping goes right and colors look the way that you picture them in your head when layered. Yay! Check these out - I love them!

So, I started off here with a thin coat of Maybelline Color Show Tenacious Teal. Then I sponged a second coat over top. After that, I sponged on Estee Lauder Caviar just in the center, and sponged Essie Play Date over top of that in an even smaller blob. I like when I just blob colors on and it ends up looking like this haha. After I finished that, I stamped over top of it using an image from my MoYou London Explorer Plate 03 using Konad Special Black polish. And that's it.

I really love how these came out and am going to be so sad to remove it for my next mani. Well that's all I've got for today. Thank you so much for reading! :)

Water Marble Adventure With My Sister!

While I was on vacation in MA, I spent one of my evenings playing with nailpolish with my sister. She wanted to see how a water marble is done, so we picked out some pretty colors and tried it out. She caught on quickly and was soon dunking her pretty fingers in the designs I was making like a water marbling pro.

We used Zoya Arizona and Wednesday, and one my sister's polishes from Essie called Chinchilly. This trio looks so good together!

Thank you so much for stopping by - and a big thank you to my sister for allowing her fingers to be pictured on my blog!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Ignored For Too Long

For this manicure, I decided to use a couple of old polishes that I really don't know why I didn't use sooner! In the last few moments of sunlight this summer, it had to be a holo. I wore this during vacation in Massachusetts and lucked out that it was bright and sunny all week long!

Tri Polish Tuesday - Lilac, Teal, and Grey

Hi everyone! I am back from my vacation. It was totally awesome, and I'll share some pictures plus a mani that I did for my sister while I was there this weekend. :) For today's mani, I decided to use Estee Lauder Caviar for my base, so that I would have a swatch for you - it's at the bottom of this post. I was in a floral mood, so I tried my hand at some more one-stroke flowers - practice makes perfect after all.

Here is Caviar all by itself. It is a nice opaque grey with a slight shimmer....pretty for a grey. :) I did two thin coats.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Indie

Hi! For my Golden Oldie post today, you are getting a WAAAAYYY overdue review of some polishes I bought from LynBDesigns on Etsy, which I absolutely adore. I actually was in the midst of swatching these last year when I received the news that my grandmother did not have long to live and had to pick up and go to Connecticut to say goodbye. I was wearing Let's Get Mawwied when she passed away. It's a silly thing to remember, but I don't think I'll ever forget. Anyway, this girl has a fabulous collection of handmade polishes. I picked up four of them at the time, and I love them ALL!

First up, I am going to share the two Dr. Who themed polishes that I purchased. I love them so much - both for the names, and the colors and quality. This first one, is called Time And Relative Dimension In Space. It is a pretty blue jelly with shimmery flecks, silver glitter, and some silver shard glitter as well. It applied very nicely and dried to a satin finish. I decided I wanted it shiny, so I added topcoat. This polish required 3 coats to cover my (unfortunately stained) nails, but I'm sure someone with unstained nails could get away with 2. It was easy to apply, even with all that glitter, too! This one did me no favors and stained my nails even worse, but ah well. I liked it too much to really mind. :) My original swatches for this were awful, so I redid them...hence the difference in nail lengths/lighting.

Next, we have The Girl Who Waited. I wore this to my grandmother's funeral, managed to take the pictures, but then just lost the desire to blog for a little while afterward. This polish is a very sheer purple tinted jelly with iridescent shimmer, purple glitters, and large pink flower glitter. I'm in love with the flower glitter. This Amy Pond polish suited me very nicely, too. This one also was a breeze to apply and could be built up with 4-5 coats if desired. I opted to wear two coats of it over two coats of Maybelline WC135. I had to fish for the flower glitters and place them individually on my nails, but they were not difficult to get out of the bottle.

Next, is a polish from her Land Before Time Collection. This is Spike, and fits that cute little dinosaur to a T! It has tiny black glitters, medium bluish iridescent square glitter, and large gold flower glitter! I love it. I'm especially in love with the square iridescent glitters. From some angles, you can't even see them and then you turn your hand a certain way, and suddenly there is a gorgeous pop of bright blue! You can see it on my pinky - love!

And last, (but not least!) is a Princess Bride Reference - Let's Get Mawwied. The name alone cracked me up and could have easily been the only reason I bought it. BUT, it is also a white crelly with multiple pastel colored glitters that is just to DIE for. I love it. It looks like frosting with sprinkles, so that is probably why I love it so much. :)

I totally love these polishes from LynBDesigns and can't wait to get more from her. I keep hoping for more Dr. Who themed polishes, so hopefully she will make some....or any other of my favorite TV shows/movies for that matter - The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Psych, Merlin....haha. Be sure to check back in for my next post. I have some more fun nail art to share for Tripolish Tuesday! Thanks for looking!

Tri Polish Tuesday - Lilac, Teal, & Grey/Silver

Hi everyone! For today's manicure I decided to use one of my new plates from MoYou London. It is a Suki Plate, and I actually used another Suki plate that I already owned to add the accent. So anyway, for this mani, I started off with two coats of Maybelline Color Show Tenacious Teal. I stamped the bamboo image using Estee Lauder Caviar, which was a gift from my lovely friend, Anna, then stamped the flowers on top using Essie Play Date. I used a gel topcoat to seal this in hoping that it will last through my vacation. We will see! I'll update when I return to let you all know the results!

Here is Maybelline Color Show Tenacious Teal all by itself. It's a nice, dark, teal that leans more green. The formula was on the thin side, but it built up nicely, and went on smooth.

Well I'm in a rush to get to bed since I have to wake up in four hours! Have a great day everyone!
