Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 8 - Duo Chrome, Flakie or Holo

For this mani, I decided to try out a couple of very old polishes I got from my dad. He is a chemist and had helped create some of the pigments that go in to various nailpolishes. At the time that he gave these to me (probably close to 10 years ago), these colors were not popular, so I didn't really wear them much, but I realized a couple years ago, that they are special. So, I have for you Revlon Silver Switch and KhakiZING. I decided to do a gradient so I could share both.

I took way too many photographs, because it was a bit tricky to capture the color shift. Look out below - photo spam!

And here is one last picture of Revlon Silver Switch all by itself.

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 7 - Ombre or Skittle

For this challenge, I have decided to do a skittle mani, since I have never done one before. I was really excited to try this out and spent quite a while trying to come up with a nice design. Take a look!

I started out with Julep Eva, then added silver & glitter accents. On my thumb, I used a pretty flakie - Zoya Chloe, and for my index finger, I used Julep Harley to stamp from BM19. On my middle finger, I did a gradient with Eva and Pure Ice Beware, then on my ring finger, I used a dotting tool to add dots, then did stamping using BM20 on my pinkie using Julep Harley again for both.

Here's a pic of my thumb when the sun randomly peeked out. Pardon the dry skin - I couldn't pass up the opportunity for sunshine for a lack of moisturizer! LOVE these flakies!

Sat-Art-Day Club: 1960s!

I decided to go with a funky pattern for today's nails. I was inspired by some of the psychedelic colors and patterns that you see in items from the 1960s. Take a look!

I used NYC Greenwich Village for the pink, Essie Meet me at Sunset and Zoya Arizona for my oranges, Pure Ice Vintage for the yellow, Color Club Twiggy is the bright green, and L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Forest Green. I just used a small striper brush to make all these stripes in small swirling patterns. I like how the thumb and index fingers turned out the best!

Julep Valentine's Day Mystery Box - Ok, ok, I'm late!

Good morning! My lovely aunt ordered a Valentine's Day mystery box from Julep and had it sent to me, which was a wonderful surprise. I know I'm posting it late for Valentine's Day, but I've had a lot going on and just didn't have time to get these polishes swatched and photographed until today. After all, any of these colors can still be worn at any time of the year. Opening these boxes always makes me kind of feel like it's Christmas. :) They are always packaged so cutely too.

In my mystery box, I got Glenn, Eva, Madison and one polish I already owned, Audrey. I also received a lipgloss in Poppy. I'm including a swatch of Audrey since I had never swatched it before. Also, I was surprised to find that Madison was actually a jelly, so I'll have to try it out in a jelly sandwich at some point!

Thanks again, Aunt Laura!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 6 - Favourite Color Family

Wow - I actually just did a mani not that long ago for a very similar theme, so I really had to brainstorm again on this one. I would have to say that my favorite color family is probably pink/coral, at least clothing-wise. For nails though, it is definitely teal/turquoise, so I have a mani today that celebrates the beautiful blue-green that I love.

I started off with Zoya Wednesday for my base - I cannot get enough of this color!! So, then I started in the center of each nail drawing a small star in L.A. Colors Atomic. I outlined in with Zoya Wednesday, then outlined that star in Julep Harper, a teal glitter that I just ADORE, then I outlined that star in Wet n Wild Caribbean Frost, did another ring in Zoya Wednesday, and then the last little bit was done with Zoya Zuza, which you can really only see on my thumb. Love, love, love all these colors!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 5 - Purple

This fabulous sparkly purple is one of my favorite colors, and I haven't really showed it off much on this blog, so I decided to use it in a design with one of my new Bundle Monster plates. Take a look!

I started this mani off with 2 coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, then stamped in Zoya Dannii using BM21. After that I painted half the nail with Zoya Dannii and accented it with a glittery stripe using Sally Hansen Bejeweled. So much purple-y goodness!

That's all for now, next up in the challenge is favourite color family - so we shall see what I pick. It'll be hard considering I love pretty much every color. :) Thanks for looking, and be sure to check out what the others have done for this challenge!

Maisie Shine Perception & 2013!

Good morning! Today, I have a couple polishes to share with you from Lindsey at Maisie Shine. I won Perception in a giveaway and she threw in 2013 as an added bonus. I was so excited when I opened the package and found TWO bottles in there. Thanks again, Lindsey! Perception is seriously gorgeous, and I love it! Here are a few pictures.

I decided to layer 2013 over top, because the bottles looked so good next to each other. And I am glad I did. I actually got a few compliments on these while I was out an about! 2013 is a purple and gold mix with small and medium hex glitters, and some gold bar glitters as well.

Thanks for looking, I'll be back with the next post for the Laid-Back 31 Day Challenge in a few days!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 4 - Pink

For this manicure, I decided not to go with a Valentine's Day theme, even though I will probably still be wearing it on that day. :) Valentine's Day is not something that we typically make a big celebration of, but I love pink, and who knows - maybe my husband will surprise me with something.

Anyway, I decided to try something that I have been wanting to do for a VERY long time - take a look!

Pink galaxies! The very first time I saw a galaxy manicure, I was smitten. They are so beautiful, and I feel like even though the classic black ones are cool, I really wanted to try it out in different colors. I did a green one before - just on one nail, for my Skyrim manicure, but didn't snap a pic before painting over it. So now, I am super excited that I have a full hand has galaxy nails and I'm really digging it.

For this look, I started out with a base of Essie Sure Shot, which is just beautiful on its own. Then, I sponged on Kleancolor Sweet Pink, OPI You Only Live Twice, Revlon Cafe Pink, L.A. Colors Atomic Force, Zoya Kimber, and Julep Audrey. After that, I added a thin coat of Wet n Wild Hannah Pinktana, then a coat of Nubar White Polka Dot. Here's a pic of Essie Sure Shot by itself. So pretty!

Thank you so much for stopping by and be sure to look at everyone else's pink creations!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 3 - Gold

For this manicure, I basically pulled out every gold polish I own and did a mosaic style mani with them. It was fun to see how all the different golds look together, and I really like how this one turned out. It was one of those few times when my indecisiveness was a good thing. Take a look!

For this mani, I used Loreal Because You're Worth It, Avon Gleaming Gold, Julep Sienna & Vivien, Milani Gold Glitz, China Glaze I Herd That, Sephora by OPI Blasted Gold, L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Gold Glitter, Essie As Gold As It Gets, OPI Goldeneye, and two of my Migi Nail Art Pens which don't have names.
