Golden Oldie Thursday - Lilac

Today's post is a simple tape manicure, but its a pattern I haven't tried before AND two polishes I have had for at least a year that I have never worn. This is Julep Elisa with Funky Fingers Sand & Stilettos.

Here is Julep Elisa on it's own. It is a good polish although a bit on the thin side. I had to do three coats to get to opacity for this one.

Short and sweet today - I have to get to bed. Have a great weekend everyone!

The Neverending Pile Challenge - Untried Stamping Plates

Well I'm nearly late again - as usual. I had to really dig through my plates to find an untried one that I actually wanted to try. I suppose I should really try out more of these because this one actually turned out to be pretty good. I used Bundle Monster stamping plates BM05 and BM14 and two previously unused polishes from Julep: Courteney and Leah.

This is Courteney all by itself. They are a couple of really pretty greens. I had no complaints about the formula either. Both of these were great and Courteney went on in two coats.

Thanks for looking and make sure you check out what everyone else did!

Golden Oldie Thursday or Friday...with Bling

Happy Friday! This week has been so crazy for me at work that I just couldn't manage to make the Thursday deadline - and I didn't even do any nail art! But, I did find an old AND unused polish that pretty much embodies the word 'bling', so here it is: Nicole by O.P.I. Luke of the Draw.

I bought this polish for no reason other than the name. And no, I am not some sort of creep for that kid on Modern Family!!! My husband's name is Luke, so I felt like I needed to have it. :D

I really love this polish - it went on so smooth and is so amazingly sparkly! Thank you so much for looking. Make sure you take a peek at what everyone else did!

The Neverending Pile Challenge - Skittles

I have three untried polishes for you today in this skittle mani. These are all pretty recent purchases - I bought them all around my birthday to celebrate turning yet another year older. I didn't really have anything in mind when I did this mani. I just sort of started and this is how it turned out.

I used Zoya Rebel and Piaf, and Piggy Polish Finger Fireworks is the glitter. It turned out to be a pretty bright, springy manicure. I like it.

Here is Zoya Rebel and Piaf on their own. They were both super awesome - great formula, beautiful color, and just...awesome.

Well that's all I've got for you, so have a great night everyone! Make sure you have a look at what everyone else did!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Texture

Hi everyone! This is a fast lunch break post - work is killing me lately! My textured manicure is coming to you in the form of a glitter and a crackle. I didn't have any old/unused textured polishes. The glitter for this manicure is one I've had since my birthday last year and still hadn't ever busted out: Butter London Rosie Lee. The crackle over the top is from AVON. I've had it for a good three years and the fad came and went so quickly, I never even had a chance to try it! I was a little bummed out because AVON called this polish Mosaic Effects, and the picture on the bottle was of a jagged, squarish crackle, so I had hoped that maybe this one would be different from regular crackle polish. It was not, but nevertheless, here it is!

Here are a few shots of it as well with the flash on.

And this is Rosie Lee all by herself. I did three thin coats of polish to get it opaque. I love all the sparkle!

Well that is all - I have to get back to work! Make sure you take a look at what the other girls did for this challenge!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Neon

Hi. Today I have some neon nails for you, and since I only had two neons that I haven't used on this blog, I had to add some black here to create some fun nail art. These two polishes came to me in a grab bag, and I actually have never used them at all. They are both stripers from Kiss called Beach Yellow and Neon Orange.

I started off with a simple striped design on each nail alternating directions, and then I stamped over top of it with Konad Special Black using stamping plate Mash-40.

Here is what it looked like before I stamped over top of it.

I did 2 coats of essie marshmallow underneath to help the neons pop. Here it is on its own since I've never swatched it on this blog.

Make sure you check out everyone's neon manicures today! It will make it feel closer to summer! :)

The Neverending Pile Challenge - Holo

It's holo day! And believe it or not, I actually have two holos that I have never used before. I know - it's shocking. The truth is, I wasn't entirely sure what to do with these, but I just had to have them. They are from the holographic collection that China Glaze released last year. This is Galactic Galaxy and OMG a UFO.

I wanted these because of the fact that they are not your typical bright holographics. I was enamored with the idea of a dark gray and drab green holographic. That just seemed so cool to me, and when I saw their rainbows in the store, they had to become mine. I decided to do some stamping with these so that I could use them both in one mani.

Here is China Glaze OMG a UFO all by itself. It's pretty and the rainbow leans a bit green/yellow, but it's there. I was not lucky enough to have sun for the photographs, so I used my best daylight bulbs in the hopes that I could do these nails some justice. The polish itself is great - it does not pull, and this is three thin coats.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out what the other girls did!

The Neverending Pile Challenge - Vampy

Oooh Vampy! I've been patiently awaiting this day as I have loads of OLD polishes that are super vampy from my more rebellious days ;). I decided to pick one that I haven't touched in years - Sally Hansen Always Ascher. It is super old and more than half gone because I loved the dickens out of it. After I put it on again after such a long break, I remembered why I love it so much. It just looks so...badass. Like, I should lace up my black combat boots, pop on a sweet motorcycle jacket and just start doing some sick karate in the middle of the street. I would totally do that in my living room by the way, and it mayyyy have happened once or twice. Or more times.

Anyway, I had to do something cool, and it's been so long since I really sat down and did some serious nail art, so I had a go at it this past Friday night. I was inspired partly by a video game, that I have mentioned many times on here - Skyrim. The vampires in that game have awesome clothing, so I took some of those little details from their clothing to inspire my nail art. I also just tried to go dark, seductive, and well, vampire-y.

I totally love how these turned out. I'll have to remember this polish and my large collection of colors that are just like it at Halloween. :)

Well as always, thanks so much for looking. I really do have to try to get more fabulous nail art on here like this. I should have more time now, but I'm clearly spending too much of it on housework and...maybe video games. Now that I have my super cool nail nook, I have no excuse to hold out on the nail art. :) Make sure you take a look at what everyone else did for this challenge!
