40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween

For this week's prompt the Crumpet's Nail Tarts are all do Halloween manis! I saw a mani a while back on instagram from @nailsbycambria that I really wanted to try to recreate, so I did. Her nail art had yellow and green eyes, but I wanted red because that seems scarier to me, so I went with an orange and red combination using Barielle Joytini and Revlon Fearless. The rest of the mani was done using Pure Ice Black Rage. Take a look at how it came out!

Here is what the mani looked like before I sponged on my gradient and drew in the eyes. :)

Thank you so much for looking. Make sure you check out what everyone else did for their Halloween manicures!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Orange, Purple, & Green

Woo happy Friday! It's week 4 of The Crumpet's Nail Tart's latest challenge, and we are all sporting manis with orange, purple, and green polish. Since it is so close to Halloween, I decided to create a sponged base and stamp over top with Halloween images in black.

I used the "splodge" technique with Butter London Chuffed, Stroppy, and Dosh. I randomly sponged them all on, until my base looked like this.

I stamped over top using Konad Special Black and images from BM-XL29 and BM-H07.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Make sure you check out what everyone else did this week using these three colors!

Rainbow Honey October 2015 Mystery Bag

I received yet another awesome mystery bag from Rainbow Honey this month and I'm loving everything in it. It came with three polishes, a lip balm, a tube of solid perfume balm, and a tube of aloe.

I haven't tried any other products in this bag aside from the polishes, so I don't have much to say about those, but I swatched all the polish, and they are so pretty! The first one I have to show off is My Midnight Garden. This is a dark blue jelly leaning slightly teal. It is packed with tiny silvery-iridescent  shard glitters. I did two coats here with no topcoat.

Next is Magic Brix. This is a dark orange polish with loads of gold shimmer. I did two coats here as well with no topcoat.

I did some quick nail art with Magic Brix and My Midnight Garden using my Loki's Nail Vinyls. :) These two colors look pretty good together!

Last we have La Isla Morada. This polish is a purple jelly with blue iridescent shimmer, white squares, bars, and  tiny circles, and black hexes and triangles. This is two coats with no topcoat.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog today! I'll be back Friday with my first Halloween mani of the season!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Geeks

Happy Friday! Today is the 3rd day of the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge. The theme is geeks, and I am so super thrilled with how my mani came out for this one. As most of you probably already know, I am a giant video game nerd. :D I decided to do a mani for a game that I spent the better part of the year playing in my free time - Dragon Age Inquisition. I decided to use the cover image for my inspiration.

For this mani, I used Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet for my base, then used the follow colors for all of the detail work:
  • Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down
  • Julep Francis, Roc Solid, and Shelly
  •  Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow
  • Pure Ice SuperStar!

I played through this game twice, once in normal mode, then again on hard. Then, my husband bought me the expansion, so I played even more! Haha. Currently, I am playing Elder Scrolls Online, so if any of my fellow nail nerds is also a video game geek who plays too, we should totally play together! ;)

Anyway, even if you don't give a hoot about video games, this is still a pretty sweet dragon, so I'm sure we can all appreciate that! I'm so excited to see what everyone else does for this challenge. Make sure you all check out what they do. There are bound to be a ton of really great manis out there!

Pretty & Polished Autumn Love Story + MDU Stamping

Hello! Happy hump day! I got my first Pretty & Polished colors ever last week, AND my first MdUs, so I decided I needed to combine them into a pretty, autumnal manicure. :) I got a bunch of colors (NINE!) from pretty and polished, so I'm really excited to start using them. Oh...and I may have gotten 22 MdUs as well. Heehee - I needed all the colors!

So, the first polish I used from Pretty & Polished is called Autumn Love Story. It's super pretty. It's base is a mauve with iridescent shimmer, and it has tiny red, gold, and purple glitter and larger orange hex glitters in it. It's what most people would describe as a crelly. It's thin so you can see the glitters in it, but thick enough so that it built up in just two coats. I did two coats here, and no top coat. It dried to a satiny finish.

Since my MdUs had just arrived, I pretty much HAD to stamp over this, so I used Mundo de Unas Red wine and CICI&SISI plate 21 to add this sort of plaid pattern over top.

Well, that is all I have for you today! I'll be back Friday for this week's challenge post for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas. I'm pretty stoked on this one, too!

Purple & Gold Stamping

Hi everyone. I did a quick stamping mani for Stamping Saturday. I got some new plates from Bundle Monster recently, so I thought I play a bit with some of the images. I used Butter London Stroppy for my base - my husband picked it out. :) Then, I stamped over top using Julep Sienna and BM-XL174.

It came out pretty nice, although I struggled a bit with my placement. Oh well, I'm putting one of those clear jelly stampers on my Christmas list. Hopefully Santa brings it. ;)

This is what Butter London Stroppy looks like on its own. It's a lovely bright, shimmery purple. I did two coats here and a coat of Out The Door topcoat.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Make sure you check out what everyone else did for their Stamping Saturday manis!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Teal

I'm back this week for the next rendition of 40 Great Nail Art Ideas. This week's theme is teal, so I wanted to show off an idea that is pretty easy to execute for a cool looking teal manicure. I've done this one before, but this time I mixed up the colors. Here is my teal splatter mani!

I used the technique found here. I started off with Julep Donna as my base, which is a deep teal cream. Then, I used the splatter technique to add Sally Hansen Kiwi Bikini, Hello Kitty Minty, and Wet n Wild Black Creme. I kept adding layers until I liked it, and then added topcoat. Easy!

Here is what Donna looks like by herself. This one is a really nice formula and went on in two coats.

Make sure you check out what everyone else did for this week's teal manicures! Thanks for looking!

Unicorns & Glitter! Progressive Nail Art

I did some nail art inspired by Progressive Insurance and Flo again! This was for an event at work, and I'm so much more stoked on this one than I was on my first Progressive nail art attempt. I have definitely improved since then. :)

I used my limited edition Zoya polish - Progressive Blue for the base. I was so excited when I got this polish. I actually bought two of these with the intention of giving one away to one of my lovely readers...but unfortunately, when I opened up the bottle to start painting this mani, I discovered this.

The other bottle is, thankfully, intact, but I used it, and can't bring myself to part with it. :( So...a giveaway will not be happening at this point unless I can get my hands on another bottle. We shall see. Anyway, on to the nail art! After painting my base, I stamped on a few images. The unicorn image is from Mash-39, and the dots and chevrons are from BM-423. I used Konad Special White for all of the stamping and freehand images. I freehanded Flo's silhouette and the P. I really wanted to include the unicorns and glitter because it is one of my favorite flo-isms. So, you know I had to add some glitter. I used Butter London Chuffed and Zoya Snowsicle to add a little sparkle. The orange dots on my little finger are Zoya Arizona. I added a little gem at the cuticle on the nail with the unicorn because I thought that Flo would probably do the same thing, lol.

Here is what Progressive Blue looks like on it's own. It's super pretty and bright. Oh, and the formula is fantastic too. It's super opaque - a one coater! I haven't tried yet, but I'm thinking this will be great for stamping!

This one was super fun to do. I loved that I finally got to use the LE polish I bought. If I end up being able to get another bottle, that giveaway I hinted at on instagram will happen. I'll let you all know! Thank you so much for looking. I'll have some sweet new nail art for you guys in a couple days! ;)

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Hobbies

Yahoooo! Today is the day we kick off the newest Nail Tarts challenge. I'm super excited about this one, because this time, I am actually helping to run the challenge! This one will be lasting a full year, just like the last one. We will be posting nail art ideas following a specific theme every week. We'll be sharing on pinterest, IG, facebook, and of course through our blogs what everyone does for each prompt to share *at least* 40 great nail art ideas with the world. :) Today's prompt is hobbies. And wouldn't you know, I got stuck on the very first prompt haha. I have two hobbies at the moment: (you know it changes month to month haha) nail art and video games. You all know I love nails (duh!) and I bet a lot of you have noticed my sick obsession with certain video games and my beloved xbox. So, I finally decided to show my love for BOTH of these and did this rainbow stamping mani as an ode to my two favorite hobbies.

I started off with some polishes I have just been DYING to wear since I bough them. These are from Polish Addict Nail Color's July box - United 4 Pride. These were released just after marriage equality for all couples was upheld by the supreme court. I had to get something to commemorate the historic occasion and polish was the perfect thing.

I stamped over top of these using Konad Special White and several different images from different plates. The hearts all come from Pueen: plates PUEEN43 and PUEEN41. The I heart nails image and the video game image are both from Bundle Monster: plates BM-401 and BM-415.

Side bar: I have a friend who is gay and when this was announced we were together and it was just the most momentous thing I can remember happening in a very long time. Someone asked him that day if we was going to go home and party and he replied "no, I'm going to go home and get MARRIED." I just about died. My heart melted. I mean, my husband is the most important man in the world to me (beside my dad lol), and if I did not have the right to marry him, and then after years and years of being together and never being able to make it a legal relationship, we finally got that right, I think my heart would explode. So, yeah, I got a little teary for him and his partner. It is special.

Anyway, when this particular collection of polish came out, I knew I needed it. And when they are all dried out and my kids ask why I have these old rainbow glitter polishes, I can tell them I was there when gay couples got the right to marry. It is right up there in history with women and minorities gaining the right to vote. It is huge. Look at these beauties.

The colors used in this manicure are Polish Addict LGBT (pink), 6/26/15 (purple), Love Is Love (blue), Love Wins (green), and United 4 Pride (yellow).

Well, I'm super excited about this new challenge, and can't wait to see all of the other girls manicures for this first theme. Make sure you stop and look at what everyone else did!
