Jelly Stamp-wich

A while back, while explaining what a jelly sandwich, or glitter sandwich, was to my mom, she wondered what would happen if you stamped a design between layers of jelly polish. I got to wondering how that would look, too, and it turns out it looks pretty darn good. :) I did a simple design, but one I will definitely be wearing all week. I love it!

Thanks to my mom for purchasing the Zoya Gloss Collection and letting me borrow it for this mani. I couldn't decide which color to use, but I finally settled on Katherine. This color is very pretty. Here it is all by itself. This is three coats.

I used Konad Special White Polish for the stamping and then did one more coat of Katherine. Here is the mani before I added my final coat of Katherine. This is Cheeky plate M70 which I won in a giveaway from the always fabulous Lizzy of  The Do It Yourself Lady! Thank you!!

I tested out all my ideas for various color combinations on paper. Here is a picture of how they turned out.

You'll probably be seeing another one of these soon, because I promised my mom I would give her a Jelly Stamp-wich too. :) Thanks for stopping by!

Busy Busy!

I just wanted to drop a quick post to let all of you know that I am feeling a bit overwhelmed lately with work and school and...well everything, and I have decided to slow down with my posting. You probably already noticed that I have not been posting much, and I may have to start posting even less. Painting my nails was starting to become like a chore, and that is something that I didn't want to ever have happen. It is supposed to be 'me' time, where I can relax and enjoy myself. I still love doing manicures, and I will continue, but I didn't like this past weekend when I was rushing about and getting all huffy because I had to get my post done. Yuck. So not cool. With that being said, I am not saying goodbye. I'm just saying I need some space. It's not you it's me, blahblahblah haha.

Seriously, though, I am absolutely going to do my nails this weekend, because I will go insane if I don't. There will be a post for the week, but it will probably only be one post, and it will not be held to any particular deadline. And since I am cutting it down to just one post, I will not be doing Copy Cat Sat every weekend any longer. It's just too much, and it doesn't allow me to be as creative as I would like to be. I will probably pop one in maybe once a month, because I do see manicures every once in a while that I simply have to try. :)

When things get a little easier for me to manage, I will absolutely be back with several posts a week. I'm considering a challenge later in October as well, so hopefully things are better by then and I can commit. I really want to. In fact, I would be super happy if I could do a manicure every 3 days or so, but there's just not the time. This seems to happen to me at the beginning of every semester, so hopefully things will get better. Look out for my post this weekend. I have an idea I've been dying to try, so I'm hoping I will find the time. Thanks for all of your support!!

10 Day/Week...OK MONTH! Challenge - Favorite Celebrity Manicure

So, I don't really follow celebrities...at all. I don't care about their stupid lives, and I don't think it should be anyone's business anyway. Leave them alone people. They are regular human beings, not gods and goddesses. They poop too. Ok, enough of that. My point is, I wouldn't know a celebrity manicure if it was on a hand that slapped me in the face. That meant I had to search the internet for 'celebrity manicures' and that was really, really boring. But, I finally wound up finding one that I had actually pinned on pinterest months ago without realizing that it belonged to a celebrity. And, happily, its a celebrity that I have actually heard of - Zooey Deschanel. Here is my version of her cute mani.

I like how this turned out. I chose slightly different colors, only because I wanted to use some polishes that I haven't gotten to use yet. The base is China Glaze Exotic Encounters. I won this in a giveaway along with the entire Safari Collection, and was so excited to start using these colors. Thanks again Kayla Shevonne!!! The stripes are done in Zoya Wednesday, Pure Ice Wild Thing, and China Glaze I'm Not Lion (also from my winnings - yay!!!). Here's China Glaze Exotic Encounters all by itself. This is serioulsly one of my new favorite colors. It is GORGEOUS!

Thanks for looking. The next requirement of this challenge is Favorite Freehand Nail Art Design, so I will begin pondering that one, and try to have it done for next week.

Copy Cat Sat - Nailed It!

Today, I have for you a mani inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Katy from Nailed It! She comes up with the best ideas, so I decided to mimic this lovely manicure she did a while back. Of course, I had to put my own spin on it, so here it is.

China Glaze Desert Sun, Pure Ice Super Star!, China Glaze Prey Tell

Well, I wanted it to look autumnal, but I think it looks more 70's kitchen wallpaper. Oh well. I think I will take a stab at it again sometime. I need to make the white stripe narrower, but the stamp I used was a bad choice - too wide. Maybe I will try this again with a winter theme later this year. We shall see. Here is China Glaze Desert Sun by itself.

Thanks for looking, I'll have a new mani for you on Wednesday. :)

10 Day/Week...OK MONTH! Challenge - Blue Nails

Oh, here's something I can do easily. I love blue nail polish. I decided to dip into my stash of polish that I haven't tried yet. Happily there was some blue in there. Here is what I came up with.

It's a simple stamping mani using Wet n Wild 315A (it's old and doesn't have a name) as the base color, and the stamping was done using Julep Melanie and stamping plate Mash-49. Here is Wet n Wild 315A by itself.

It's a pretty deep sparkly blue. Application is great even after all these years. I've probably had this polish for about 13 years, no joke. My coworker Josh says I need to do a starry manicure with this color. I couldn't agree more. I think this will be my base for a galaxy manicure in the near future. :) Thanks for looking!

Copy Cat Sat - Chalkboard Nails

This week's Copy Cat Sat is featuring my mom's lovely hands. :) She saw this blogpost from Chalkboard Nails and fell in love. When she asked me if I could recreate it, we decided to give it a shot. Here is what it ended up looking like.

We thought it looked kind of like stained glass. :) We started with a solid white base, and then added the color. The orange is Nina Burnished Bronze, the purple is China Glaze Coconut Kiss, the Red is OPI Nice Color, Eh?, and the blue is Bath & Body Works Blue Moon Shimmer. Here it is in the shade.

And here's another sparkly sunlight photo.

We were pretty happy with how this turned out. The colors look really pretty together. Thanks for looking and see you next week!

10 Day/Week...OK MONTH! Challenge - Animal Print

I will start off by saying that I refuse to wear animal print. I have never, ever had an article of clothing that was animal print, except for maybe socks (and those were a gift). It's just not my thing. So, I procrastinated on this one. I have several Mash and Konad plates that contain animal prints, but I just wasn't feeling it. So, I decided to take a different approach to animal print. Here is what I came up with.

PAW PRINTS!!

This is NYC Fuchsia Shock Creme with Sally Hansen Blue Me Away!, Sally Hansen Nail Art pen in Purple Violet, and Sinful Colors Unicorn for the paw prints. Here is a picture of NYC Fuchsia Shock Creme by itself.

And keeping with the theme, here's are some pics of my beloved pets. :) Beware: PICTURE SPAM!

As always, thank you so much for looking! What do you think about these nails?

Copy Cat Sat - Rebecca Likes Nails

Today, I decided to do a mani that I saw a while back from Rebecca Likes Nails. This is a blog that I look at at least once  a week, and I love her manicures! This floral one caught my eye, and then when she did a tutorial, I knew I had to try it out. Here is my take on her floral nails.

The base is Sinful Colors Cinderella. It is a lovely pale sparkly blue. For the roses, I used Black Poppy's nameless periwinkle color, and Revlon Plum Seduction, and for the leaves, I used Sinful Colors Last Chance. Here is Cinderella all by itself.

I look forward to doing some more Copy Cat Sats for you in the weeks to come. I have been extremely busy since I got back from vacation with school and work. I'm taking 3 classes this semester and working full time, so time is a bit of an issue for me. :) I will probably be posting only once a week from now until December. But whenever I get a break, you may hear from me more. Thanks for looking!
