Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 12 - Tape Mani

Oh the nostalgia. My very first nail art foray was a tape mani. And, boy, I have come a long way. I mean, I don't want to toot my own horn or anything, but... :D Anyway, I love the idea of using tape for those nice crisp lines, and have done a lot of tape manis already, so I decided to go for something new. I can't say that no one was ever done this, because I know we all get inspired by different things, and are always trying to think of new creative things to try, but I haven't seen this done before, so it is at least new to me. :)

I decided to use striping tape since I have never broken them out before. Take a look!

I started out with 2 coats of Julep Fiona, then taped off a couple lines and painted over it with Julep Cindy.  Here it is at that stage.

Here is Fiona all by itself. It's very Shrek-y. :)

After that, I taped off two more criss-crossing stripes and painted over that with Julep Hailee, which is a matte suede. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. :) Make sure you take a look at what the other girls did!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 11 - Splatter

Oh the mess! I was terrified to do this one, because I just cannot deal with messes. I hate them. And my poor house is already enough of a mess without me adding to it. So, I braved it, prepared my workspace ALOT ahead of a time, taped off my fingers, and got to work. And, I LOVED the results! That being said, I probably will not do it again...just because it took a long time, and that is something I don't have much of. Well, take a look!

I started off with Zoya Tallulah for my base, then splattered on Ivanka and Aurora. I love these colors together.

Here is the lovely Tallulah all by herself! Gorgeous!

Thanks for looking and make sure you check out what everyone else did, too!

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 10 - Geometric

For today's manicure, I am taking inspiration from M.C. Escher. My father is a fan of his geometric patterns and artwork, and as a kid, I looked at it a lot. It really is intriguing. Of course, I couldn't do any of the more detailed/intricate ones, so I went with something pretty tame. But, if you look at it, it's just as confusing as any of his other work. :) So, here is my take on the geometric challenge!

I started off with two coats of Color Club Twiggie. The rest of the detail was done with Revlon Posh and L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Forest Green. Here is Twiggie all by itself.

What do you think? I think the thumb turned out best. Why is that anyway? It always seems like the thumb turns out best.

Make sure you check out what everyone else did.

Tomb Raider Nails!!!

Hey all! The new Tomb Raider game comes out today and I am beyond excited about this one. :) I cannot wait to get my hands on it! So, I decided to do a manicure for the occasion. Here are my Tomb Raider nails for today's release!

I used Wet n Wild Black Creme for the base. For the index and pinky camo, I used Sinful Colors Nirvana, L. A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Forest Green, and the brown color from Revlon's Moon Candu duo called Universe. On my middle finger, I used China Glaze Adventure Red-y and on my ring finger and thumb, I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

I extra proud of the silhouette I did on my thumb. Yeeeee!

What do you think? Are any of you excited about the game, too?

Laid-Back NEW31DC Day 9 - Saran Wrap

Another technique I have never tried before! My little sister tried it out, though and it looked awesome, so I decided to follow her approach to it, which was to use the same color, in different hues. I started out with a light base, and added a darker color to the top. I love the way this looks, and it is so easy!

I took a pic before I added the topcoat and the lines looked a lot more crisp.

Then, I felt like it wasn't enough...so I added a glitter topcoat from Physician's Formula called their Treat Yourself Glam Topcoat.

For this mani, I used Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect in Sorbet for my base and added Wet n Wild in Dreamy Poppy with my saran wrap. I really wanted to do something creative, but I liked it so well on its own, so I just left it. :) Here is Sorbet by itself. I have to say, this polish is one of the most awesome formulas I've come across in a while. It goes on like butter and really did look perfect without topcoat. It also hadn't chipped at all after a whole week, but then I took it off because it was time for something new. I'll have to see if they have any other colors that I like. :)

Hope you like this mani. Please make sure you look at what everyone else did, too!
