Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 23 - Oils

For today's manicure, I decided to mimic a painting that I have in my living room. It is a print of one of Claude Monet's paintings of the Path at La Cavee Pourville.

Here is how my version turned out. It's no Monet, but I'm pretty happy with this one. I had a lot of fun doing it, too!

I started out with L.A. Colors Mega Watt for my base. It is a good nude for me. It has a slight shimmer to it, too. Since I have never swatched it before, I'll show it now. This is three thin coats.

Thanks so much for looking today. Make sure you take a look at what the others did for today's challenge as well!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Chevron

Today's post is not my best work, but it's all I can do and still keep up with this challenge. You would think I wouldn't have trouble managing only one mani a week! This poor manicure was just riddled with problems and finally I just accepted the imperfection. I started out with high hopes, too. First, I shall show you the polishes I decided to pair up for this.

This is China Glaze Prey Tell and L'oreal The Temptress' Power. In the bottles next to each other, this looked like a great idea to me. Unfortunately it did not translate so well onto the nail. :( Wahhhhh! I started off with two coats of Prey Tell. Then I pulled out a cutter that I bought for scrapbooking to make my chevrons only to find that what they referred to as zigzag was actually just wavy. Grrr. So then, I thought I would just cut the tape by hand. About ten minutes in, I gave up and decided to just freehand it. That is when I discovered that once painted over Prey Tell, The Temptress's Power lost all of it's tan/gold color and became very green/almost yellow. By then it was about 7pm, and since I wanted to get this in before midnight, I just went with it. So, here you go. I'm going to have to do a proper chevron mani with colors that actually look good together at a later date. haha

Here is Prey Tell all by its self. It's a beautiful, rich, warm brown cream. It makes me want chocolate. :) And, like every China Glaze polish I own, it goes on like a dream.

Alright, well that post was a bit more complain-y than I intended, but it's past my bedtime and I need my beauty sleep. I hope you all have a great night and a happy Friday since most of you won't see this until then! Make sure you check out what everyone else did, too!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 16 - Doodles

Good afternoon! Today I have some cutesy doodles for you! I don't have much to say about these...I just grabbed a nail art pen and started doodling so it is all very random. I will say that the base of this manicure is a Hello Kitty polish from Sephora in Minty. I purchased this polish strictly because of the Hello Kitty shaped bottle and was pleasantly surprised when I tried it out. It went on so nice and smooth and was opaque in just two thin coats - nice! The nail art pen I used is from Sally Hansen in Purple Violet. :)

Here is Hello Kitty Minty all by itself. It is a much nicer polish than I expected. Now I wish I had bought all the colors. :( Ah well...

I had fun with this one! And it was quick, too. I really didn't plan it out - I just went for it! Make sure you take a peek at all the other doodles for today!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Valentine's

Good evening! Today I have two old polishes that I have never used. One is actually a topcoat...and shame on me for never busting this one out! It is beautiful and I really just kept forgetting that I had it! Here is my Valentine's Day mani!

I used L.A. Colors Paradise Pink for the base. It's a great pink, I really need to use it again! I used Konad Special White for the stamping, which is nothing new. I used a bunch of different plates for this one: my thumb is Konad m78, my index and pinkie are both on BM02, my middle finger is BM03 and BM09, and my ring finger is from RA106. The topcoat is Out The Door's Northern Lights. What is wrong with me?! I need to use this on every mani! haha

Here is L.A. Colors Paradise Pink by itself. It went on in two smooth coats, and has a nice shimmer to it. :)

Well thanks for looking! Make sure you take a look at what the others did for this challenge!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge Day 9 - Inner Geek

As you all know, when I geek out, it is on video games. But since I don't have a new video game to be inspired by, I decided to go with something else that I have missed these past several years due to school: Books! College kind of ruined reading for me for a while, but now that I am done, I have been enjoying it again. So here's to books! Yay!

The base of the manicure is a new polish I got for Christmas: butter LONDON Cream Tea. The rest of the colors I used are listed below.

The polishes used in this mani were: China Glaze Desert Sun, Exotic Encounters & Prey Tell, Essie Marshmallow, Sephora by OPI What a Broad, and Julep Dendrie. Here is Cream Tea all by itself.

Thanks for looking! Here is what everyone else came up with today!

Golden Oldie Thursday - Green

Today's post is a simple one. I have two old greens that I really need to get swatched, and they will be perfect together, so I'm knocking that task out today! This is Revlon Posh and Klean Color Starry Meteor. I love, love, LOVE this glitter. It is sooo pretty.

Here is Revlon Posh by itself. It is the perfect Christmas green and would be great for St. Patrick's Day too!

Make sure you check out all the links below for some more green!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 2 = Jewel Tones!

Good evening! I thought I would have this post up earlier, but I kept having to pause my painting to cook up some yummy foods for the big game tonight. I don't care about football AT ALL, but I do care about my husband. Therefore, I made all sorts of yummy game snacks to surprise him and make this day extra special. And, since I get to eat it all too, it makes me happy. :) Anyway, for today's post, I got it in my head that I wanted to do something like stained glass.

It was a lot more time consuming than I first imagined, but I loved the way it turned out. It looks pretty much the way I envisioned it. :) I used the stamping decal method with an image on Cheeky XL Plate D. This is the part that took forever, but it was worth it.

For this mani, I ended up using 12 nail polishes! I'm going to list them out below rather than explain in detail what I did with each one. I just don't have that kind of time today!! I will say that I started out with a white base in the hopes that the colors would look brighter, so for  that, I used Pure Ice SuperStar!, which you all know by now is my favorite white. Here are the rest of the colors I used:
  • butter LONDON Knees Up
  • essie Sure Shot
  • Julep Angela
  • Julep Leah
  • Julep Marjorie
  • Konad Special Black
  • L.A. Colors Magnetic Force
  • L.A. Colors Wired
  • Pure Ice Femme Fatale
  • Pure Ice Vintage Glam
  • Sally Hansen Pronto Purple
Make sure you check out what all the others did for today's challenge!!!
